The deformed barrels and screws, due to operating conditions, are able to be repaired and used again if the damage is within certain limits.
After the technical investigations made on the parts, the part with damage is repaired and adjusted to work with other parts inside the system. In some cases, both barrel and screw can be repaired to decrease the cost to minimum.
The advantages of the repair compared to a newly manufactured barrel-screw are;
The deformed internal diameter of barrel, due to; abrasion, scratch, or metals mix in plastics, is repaired by increasing the internal diameter of the barrel precisely then, it is subjected to heat treatment to increase its strength against abrasion.
To work with the repaired barrel with increased internal diameter, a screw is manufactured or, the existing screw is adjusted to work with the repaired barrel.
If the deformation is only at the ending sides of the part, a barrel bushing is prepared and assembled to deformed section of barrel.
Screws with deformed dimensions, due to abrasion, are repaired with high alloy hard filling then adjusted to its original diameter by precise grinding.
If neccessary, the repaired screw is subjected to heat treatment to increase its strength against abrasion.
